"There is no unhappiness like the misery of

sighting land again

after a cheerful, careless voyage" - Mark Twain

Malaysians In Motion Expedition is a round the world 4X4 overland expedition with a difference. What makes us unique and separates us from other round the world trips are the team members, a family unit with limited experience and our 3 year old son. The success of the expedition will no doubt inspire others with similar limited or without experience in outdoor adventures to take that step into the unknown. The expedition will develop a true perspective of the ability of ordinary families to do what have been thought to be the domain of the exceptional few.

Why the overland expedition?

We had always dreamt of doing something like this but like most of us, the means of achieving it were never there, one either has the time or the funds, but seldom both at the same time. Alison and I planned at some distant past to go on the motorbike as we had done on a couple of short jaunts to Europe, Thailand and Laos but then lo and behold ….little Adrian came along! If we were to confine our travels to the Far East we may get away with the three of us on one bike… and without crash helmets too; but then we are going beyond those confines.

"Tourism Malaysia would like to congratulate you and your family for taking such great interest and effort in promoting our lovely country through world expedition. At this juncture, I can confirm that we will supply you with promotional materials on Malaysia for distribution during your initial stage of expedition. Once again congratulations and thank you for giving Tourism Malaysia an opportunity to be part of this programme".

" It is with great pleasure to welcome you three (little Adrian too, of course) to the world of adventure. What a unique combination, especially coming from an Asian background, to take on the thrills and spills of overland travel across the Seven Seas. And what an adventure it will surely be. Well, keep up your spirit, I am very sure you will enjoy the many friendships along the way and at the same time, doing Malaysia proud too. Here's wishing you a successful journey across the world".

Of course, we cannot exclude the little Adrian from our dreams and as we have managed to toilet train him after 7 months of trials and tribulations, we decided that there is no better time to do it than now, before he starts schooling. Even if he lacks knowledge of his alphabets and arithmetic at the end of it all, hopefully, he will be aware of others' way of life and culture.

We are hoping to:

  • Experience one of the greatest adventures of our lives.
  • Gain insight to the culture and history of the people and places we meet and visit.
  • Inspire others particularly those from the Global South to fulfil their dreams.
  • Share our experiences with others especially school children in Malaysia and those en route.
  • Promote our country, Malaysia.
  • Assist and bring awareness to our chosen Charities.
