August 28; Copenhagen, Denmark

Today the sun was out when we woke up thank goodness for that especially after having been woken up at 1 am by the falling awning being blown by the strong wind. I thought I would get a quick shower in before breakfast only to discover that I had not brought the swipe card needed for the shower. Some kind soul offered his swipe card

and I was enjoying the shower when it suddenly stopped without warning and my legs still with soap. I had to rush to the sink outside the shower stall, to wash off the remaining soap, before anyone walked in.

While pouring what I thought was milk for Adrian’s cereal I found it rather thick and asked Alison if the milk had frozen. It turned out that she had bought a pint of yoghurt instead of milk without realizing it (it was all in Swedish as an excuse). Luckily the shop was only  a few hundred yards walk otherwise Adrian would have created hell waiting!

After breakfast we drove to town to see the Little Mermaid. I didn’t remember it being so tiny and as David said later, one American had written in the Danish website that it was so little that it was not worth the bus ticket she paid to get there. We then walked around the citadel which was rather interesting fortification built in 1669, and now still being used by the Danish Ministry of Defense.

We drove around Tivoli Gardens but did not bother to go in as Adrian was not the right age as yet. Moreover we were expecting David to call which he did as we were just about to head west. We returned to the campsite where David was waiting as the café by the reception. We had a good yarn and David fortunately has got himself a job managing a restaurant as yet to be opened. After David left we went to the shops looking for Adrian’s birthday present and got a fillet of fish at the same time for Alison to grill. It was one of the best campsite dinner I have had over these few months.
