August 29; Copenhagen to Hamburg, Denmark/Germany

True to the weather forecast, the sun was shining when we woke up. I was up and about by 8 am and requested Peter’s daughter to write in our guest book, the first since I had my stroke. Things look like getting back

to normal and I am pretty keen to get our trip back on course.

We took our time packing up and so did Peter and family. In the meantime there were ducks and birds to feed and Adrian had a fine time chasing or running away from them. We also got Colude to write in our guest book at the same time telling them that I had taken a photo of them setting up their tent.

When we left the campsite, we had to stop for some cash in case we needed it to pay for the toll at the bridge into Odense. True enough the toll was DKr205 that’s around RM140! I couldn’t believe it when we only pay RM7 to cross the Penang Bridge.

On the way, we managed to contact the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin to ask if they had any function arranged to celebrate the Merdeka Day. Apparently it is only by invitation but we got our names in as invitees. We then scheduled ourselves to arrive Berlin on Saturday night to be available on Sunday morning for the function. At least we have something to look forward to on Adrian’s birthday!

At the border we spent the remaining DKr on coffee, burgers and diesel. While refueling someone came up to us and asked if we were really from Malaysia. He was proud to tell us that his son lives in Penang and that he had been to Malaysia 8 times. While he was telling us these a queue had developed and I could see that some of the drivers were not amused!

We go into a campsite near Hamburg at 7.30 pm and after a small bite to eat and shower we thought an early night was appropriate.
