August 31; Berlin, Germany

Today we were supposed to be up early so as to arrive at the Ambassador’s residence before too many guests had arrived but as usual Adrian didn’t wake up till 9 am. By the time we got everything sorted it was 11 am before we left the campsite. We were in such a hurry that I forgot

to put the clips on the roof tent and when we hit the highway Alison spotted the canvas flapping on her side. We immediately stopped to tuck in the canvas and secure the tent.

We managed to find the residence without too much problem albeit later than intended and we were the last guest to arrive. The Consular encik Hanif greeted us and promptly introduced us to the Ambassador, Datuk Zakaria Sulong, whom turned out to be a very gracious host. Adrian soon made friends with the kids there who were mainly Malaysians, children f the embassy staff.

When Zainal, JJ and friends were leaving I decided to show them Tuah. At the same time Puan Zubaidah, a freelance journalist, and her friends were there and showed interest in Tuah and what we were doing. I spent some time with them and the Ambassador’s guests kept coming to take pictures with Tuah. Alison then came and told me that Datuk only had his staff left in the garden and it was about time that we say our goodbyes.

Adrian cried when told that we had to go as he enjoyed himself so much with the new found friends. He soon got over it when we ambled out of the residence with all the others and took photographs of the group and Tuah. We were glad we came and thank Datuk and Datin for their hospitality.
