7th December 2008: Antalya

I suggested that we stay an extra night in Antalya as we had been rushing through Turkey the last few days. Aliosn readily agreed as she wanted to organise Adrian's and her clothes. immediately after breakfast she got the box of clothes up to the room and started tranfering clothes from the box to the small duffle bag she was using and vice versa.

At 1030hrs armed with a bag of laundry we went to Migross in search of a laundry as the one on the hotel was closed because of the Byram holidays for Eidil Adha. Unfortunately the dry cleaners at Migross couldn't do the laundry within today and we went west of Antalya for sight seeing. We went to asmall holidy village Beldibi but most of the shops were closed for the winter. The next town was Kemer which has many big hotels on the beach front and smaller ones slightly away from the beach. I saw a fish dish displayed in one of the restaurants and we decided to stop for lunch.

As trout cost on 8YTL Alison thoight she ws going to ave a bargain but it turned out they didn't have any and the only fish they and was sea bream which was double the price. She was dissappointed but to save cost opted for stuffed aubergine instead. I had chicken which was too overcooked for my liking and didn't finish it.

I found a laundry which could do our washing within 2 hours and had to bargain on the charges. In the end it still costed us 20YTL which was abargain compared to charges on some of the campsites we had been to.

While we still had a few hours of daylight we decided to go further west and visit Olympus which was supposed to be only 15 kms from Kemer. It turned out to be quite a bit further, about 23 kms further. Instead of following everyone going in I decided to go right at the entrance to the South Necropolis, the burial grounds. It was of course the wrong thing to do as the path was full of boulders and rocks and half the time Alison had to carry Adrian. Upon reaching the Roman Theatre, Alison was ready to call it quits and we had to wade through the river to get to the opposite bank where we should have been in the first place.

Walking back towards Tuah i saw this lady making pancakes and I enquired if it was lamacun she was making but it turned out to be real pancakes. We ordered one honey and banana to take away and regretted not ordering more as it tasted good, but we were laready on our way to pick up the laundry.

Adrian as usual being a smart arse suggested that we go to McDonalds when asked if he was hungry. Alison got him some nuggets while we went local and got kebab to tkae away. We were back at the hotel by 1930hrs as we had to do some research on Syria and Jordon before we get there.
