As Alison was desperate to get the website updated, we agreed that today I shall take Adrian to the various sight that we have been told to be worthwhile visiting. We were ready to leave without waking Jimmy up as I felt he needed the rest but was told by Dunstan that he meant what he said about showing Adrian and I around.

I waited for Jimmy to get ready while Alison went with Dunstan to the AA of Kenya to fetch the yellow card that was ready. Jimmy insisted to take his car but when we picked Alison up, she asked for Tuah to be driven to the campsite although I had the laptop with me, taking valuable time from our tight schedule to visit the elephant sanctuary which was open only from 1100 to 1200hrs. Finding our way to the elephant sanctuary was a problem as Jimmy had never gone the way we were taking, and we got there just as the elephants were being marched away. There was a baby hippopotamus on display but Adrian was not very interested in it.

The Giraffe Centre was more of an interest to Adrian but the saliva put him off from feeding them. He was happy for me to feed the giraffes while he picked up all the pellets that had fallen on to the platform. Next was the crocodile farm which Adrian really liked until the guide prodded one of the larger crocodile with a bamboo stick and it snapped at the stick. That was the end of the visit to the crocodile farm as far as Adrian was concerned. Fortunately there were also ostriches to see and even then I was told to watch my fingers while feeding them.

We had lunch at the crocodile farm (no we didn’t have a taste of crocodile meat) but we did have fried chicken which was probably meant for the crocodiles. The restaurant had limited choice on its menu and sandwiches were out as they did not have any buns or bread. All they had was rolls for the soup. Jimmy explained that this was a normal occurrence in places where food was not the main business.

By the time Jimmy dropped us off at JJ it was well past 1500hrs. Alison was complaining of not feeling well but confirmed that she was well enough to go for the BBQ which Jimmy was organizing and we were glad that we went although Garret and Sandra went AWOL. The food was good and so too was the company, with Ramish and Natalia taking centre stage. It was the first time I tasted ostrich meat which was very tender and reminded me of venison. As we were leaving, we had a good laugh when Ramish thought he was driving when in actual fact he was being driven home.
