I had taken the doxicyclene too late last night and gone to sleep without giving it a chance to dissolve and that has caused some irritation in my system, although not as bad as had happened before, it still woke me up early in the morning. I have to be more careful with the drug I am taking as I can’t afford to be taken ill.
After breakfast Alison and Sandra went to the supermarket to stock up on food and other necessities which included haircuts. Not that it makes any difference in their appearance but spending unnecessarily is part and parcel of being a woman I guess. When I broached the subject I was asked how many times I had my haircut since we began the 2nd leg. I only remembered the Wadi Halfa haircut which nearly took my scalp off until I was reminded of the one in Istanbul which cost me a bomb (taken for a ride of course). Alison had bought some ox tail and made soup for lunch. Unfortunately there was no pressure cooker available and even after an hour in the pot the meat was still tough as boots. I enjoyed the soup though but couldn’t dig in on the meat while Sandra was beside me on the laptop. I didn’t want to be thought of as a glutton. As promised Dunstan came by at about 1600hrs. I thought of asking him to take me to see the stools that I saw yesterday while on the way to the National Park, but then thought better of it when I heard him speaking to Marina arranging to pick her up from work. I was sure he would oblige. He offered to take us out to the Ethiopian restaurant but we had to decline as Sandra had started cooking for us by then. Garret set the table and even had a bottle of wine for our dinner, which was rather nice of him. The stew was delicious and we had ice cream for dessert. While just finishing our coffee and Garret was contemplating on going to bed Dunstan and family arrived to say goodbye to us. I thought they already had dinner but they were on their way to the restaurant. It was really nice of them to come and as I already knew they were coming I had an MIM t-shirt ready for Slav. Unfortunately I didn’t have any bigger size for Dunstan, and must remember to send him one when I get back to KL. We said our final goodbyes with an open invitation for them to come and stay with us whenever they are in KL when we finally settle down. |
