21st July 2008 - Tallinn to Helsinki, Finland
Monday, 21 July 2008 14:44
I thought Alison would have had a good nights rest with my sacrifice but her condition deteriorated. She now decided that she would start on the antibiotics, thank God! As we were having breakfast the French couple parked in front of us in Riga decided to join us. I thought they felt more at home with us then with all the big campervans.

Tuah in Pirita Harbour

After packing up we headed in the direction away from the center in search of Nissan service center. After crisscrossing Tallinn a couple of times we eventually found it with the help of a Statoil service manager who suggested for us to dial 1188! We spoke to Nissan and they were willing to attend to us and gave us their location. Mark and Andres didn’t waste any time and told us that we would have Tuah back in 40 minutes after the air filter and oil change. Thank you Mark and Andres.

We had our lunch of roast chicken outside Nissan to avoid filling the place up with its smell. It was then time to check on the ferries to Helsinki (2). We ended up paying far too much as we wanted (I was not quite sure about Alison), to have some time to see the old town of Tallinn. It was nice but both of us preferred Riga, probably the weather was better when we were there.

We were amazed that Adrian actually walked most of the 2 hours we were in the old town. We eventually had to take turns carrying him back to Tuah. With Tuah safely parked in Seacat Three for the crossing to Helsinki we settled down in our seats but unfortunately could not rest with Adrian still prancing around.

Thank God for small mercies as the Sat Nav was back in operation and guided us to Rastila Campsite. Although there was directions on the road but they were not very clear and placed at critical junctions. We parked Tuah in a space not meant for use as we could not find a suitable space. The security staff pointed this out to us and I had to make a plea to the office to be reasonable at least for the night. Fortunately the staffs were practical people and we got to stay where we were.
