| 5th July 2009 Daytona Beach to Orlando |

This morning I woke up to Adrian's winging and being kicked by him at the same time. Alison was on her laptop and telling him to behave himself. I couldn't stand it and decided to get up and go down from the tent and that was what it was all about. Adrian wanted to get down as soon as he woke up after hearing the kids in the tents next to moving about, and Alison wouldn't let him go down. It was such a morning when nothing was right for Adrian. He was complaining about mosquitoes when there was none nor was there any bees which he claimed had stung him. He wouldn't finish his cereal and I let him go to see the kids, Morgan and the two sisters. Then it was time for the kids to leave and Adrian was glad to give them a souvenir from Malaysia, a visit Malaysia badge each. By 1115am it was our turn to leave the campsite and Alison set the GPS for Daytona Beach. As we drove along we could only see hotels on the side where the beach was supposed to be with no access for the public. I then saw a sign saying “ramp” pointing right where the beach was and tried my luck going in that direction. What I thought was a boat ramp turned out to be a ramp to drive down to the beach. Car entry to the beach was USD5 and we were allowed to drive along the beach and park where there was parking available. I parked next to a van renting out brollies, deck chairs etc and was told that rental charge for the brollies was USD15 when I enquired. Alison immediately said to forget the umbrella at that price. But I wasn't going to need it as I would be taking Adrian to the water, so it didn't bother me if we didn't get one. I put on a bit of sunblock on my arms and my neck and I was ready. Adrian couldn't wait to get into the water and I made him promise to obey all my instructions, as I saw that the water could be a rough. He was really happy to be in the water, although he had been in the pool yesterday but I was a little worried about the waves especially when Adrian would lift his legs up and I had his whole weight to bear. After about 15 minutes it was time for Adrian to play with his spades and I let him do that for about 20 minutes and it was time to go. Alison washed him with the bottled washing water that we had. I refused to do the same and Alison remembered that there was a rest room at the entrance and thought there could be showers there. There was indeed a shower outside and I showered with my trunks and shirt on just to get the salt off. I then changed my shirt knowing that my trunks would dry pretty quickly especially in the heat. After driving along the main thoroughfare of Daytona and found all the closed we made our way to the world famous Daytona Racing circuit. I thought I had to get a souvenir from Daytona and settled for a dog tag with my name and medical details printed with ICE contact number, which was Alison's mobile. Tuah of course got a sticker and Adrian his oval penny. Upon leaving the race track Alison made enquiries at hotels in Orlando and got quite a surprise when quoted a good price, especially when we were heading for a state park campsite which was not much cheaper. We then decided to have a look at the motels before going to the campsite. We got a good deal at Travelodge based on three nights at the same price the campsite was going to charge us. And to think that KOA Kamping was asking USD70 per night it was unbelievable even for an RV. Be forewarned though as some of the adverts don't tell you the full story until you are at the check in desk, then it is too late After checking in Adrian complained that he was hungry and Alison walked over to McD thinking that we could have a good meal at a restaurant offering Indonesian food. It didn't turn out quite as we planned as Adrian was scared stiff of the masks displayed on the walls of the restaurant. In the end we had to leave without eating there and both Alison and I got really mad with Adrian for behaving the way he did. We ended up eating at Wendys.
