I was first up today and was having my breakfast when Adrian came out of the room. I offered to get breakfast for him but he declined preferring instead to wait for his mother and play with his toys while waiting. That was perfectly fine with me. We thought it better for us to go out on our own today and give Adrianne a break. When Alison told her that we would be back to take her out to dinner she told Alison that she was preparing Tacos for us tonight. She had apparently bought all the stuff necessary to prepare the dishes yesterday when they went out to get groceries. Alison was poorly today and she was not in the mood to talk and all she wanted was a rest. It was her sinus as usual and this time affecting her throat as well. We drove past Lake Conroe where all the nice houses were located, some with boathouses attached. I was looking at the property magazines and wondered where Malaysians have gone wrong. Properties with Lake frontage and a large land area here cost half as much as those houses in KL. Their money go much further than ours do and of course the Americans can afford a better lifestyle than us Malaysians. We drove on into Houston and stopped at the Sam Houston park but as there was a festival going on we couldn't park without paying a fee. A policeman came over and chatted with us after admiring Tuah. We decided just to drive around Houston and at one junction a car next to ours put the thumbs up and when I wound the window down the driver turned out to be English and noted that we carried English plates. We found a Chinatown but the warehouse were selling wholesale and there were only three of them and a restaurant. Nothing like the Chinatown in Philadelphia! Alison was disappointed of course after thinking that she could look for spices to top up our supply. As it was hot we decided to go back towards Montgomery and found a chemist who could prescribe Sudafed for Alison. At the same time she asked for the testing strip for my INR but was told that they come in 2x24 packets and cost in excess of USD200. Bloody hell I thought and told Aliosn that we could try and purchase them over the net. I was approached by Joe who apparently was living in Shah Alam in 1990. He was attracted by Tuah and came into the pharmacy looking for his owner. I wanted Alison to have a look at a table that I saw in Walmart, and she thought of buying Adrianne a rice cooker similar to that we bought earlier. I found the table but the size was too big to go into Tuah and the smaller one was not available. At least we got the rice cooker although I had to promise Adrian a toy for tomorrow for behaving himself. When we got back Adrianne had all the food ready and the chicken Tacos was delicious. After dinner believe it or not we went riding on the ATV, I suppose speeding the process of digestion. We were in the room by 10.30pm with me struggling to keep up with the journal and Adrian reminding me about getting the toy tomorrow! |
