As usual Adrian was reluctant to leave afraid that he would be missing the company and the comfort of home. But this time we had slowly broken the news to him that we were leaving but would be coming back next week. Fortunately there was further incentive for him to come as I had promised him the bionical man yesterday and now it was payback time! As a matter of fact none of us was too keen to start moving again but discipline prevailed! Fortunately Alison was feeling better than yesterday which was a relief. If she was ill who's going to carry all the stuff to Tuah and load him, I can only do it at my pace which is slooooow! It wasn't until 11,30am before we managed to drag ourselves out of the house into the heat and said our au revoir to Adrianne. I checked with Adrianne if there was anything to be done before we left but there was nothing she wanted done. By the time we got my test strip for the INR ordered and then to Walmart to get some milk and the bonical man for Adrian, refuelled, it was 12.30pm before we left Montgomery. The ETA was 4.20pm when we started off. I was hoping for a rest area to stop for lunch but none was forthcoming so by 2.15pm I started munching an apple and before I could finish of course a rest area appeared. When we got out of the car the heat seemed intolerable to us but not to Adrian who was looking forward to get one of us to put his bionical man together. We stopped for about 20 minutes but not 20 miles down the road after resuming the drive I just couldn't keep my eyes pen and asked Alison to take over until he next rest area which was 50 miles further on. I must have been tired as when I woke up we had passed the 2nd rest area and was on;y 20 miles from San Antonio and Alison had carried on driving. I told her that I would take over and she was glad to and over the wheel to me. As I started riving I noted the outside temperature to be 39deg C and apparently it hit 42 deg C while I was asleep. I thought that for today at least we could stay in a motel as Alison was not 100% and I didn't think I could put up with the heat either at least not until the sun had gone down. Alison readily agreed and we found the Super 8 which was willing to negotiate on the rate and checked in. I was glad we did as at midnight it was still hot outside.
