28th July 2009; San Marcos to Wac

We arrived at the Mother Neff Park campsite quite late only to discover that the campsite was being reconstructed after being flooded. That means no showers nor toilet and there was a tap for water and 2 portable toilets. As we had diverted quite a distance from the main road we had no choice but to put our USD10 in the envelope and deposited it in the box. The only consolation was that we would have the toilets all to ourselves as we were the only customer at the campsite and not even the host was present.

I checked on the rear right hand tire and found that it had lost 10 psi down to 25psi since I pumped it this morning. I got a bit worried as I didn't fancy changing the tire in the morning before setting off and prayed for no further loss of pressure.

It was going to be hot tonight I thought and how on earth were we going to sleep? Of course we had our faithful “kipas” (straw fan meant for the BBQ) but someone would have to do the fanning, and it sure wasn't going to be Adrian. As soon as it got dark we were up in the tent as there was no point hanging around outside. I got started with the fan and as soon as Adrian was asleep I kind of gave up and soon fell asleep myself. I got waken up at 12am and resumed fanning again but by 1am there was some breeze blowing which saved the day.
