30th June 2008 - Resita to Petrosani, Romania |

Apart from the disturbance at 4.00 am when Adrian was complaining about his foot, I had a good sleep, probably too tired from the previous sleepless night. We left the hotel after a quick breakfast from the back of Tuah cursing the management for conning us with the signage. When we got into town, Alison made some enquiries as to what Resita has to offer visitors, at the Best Western Hotel. Unfortunately Resita has nothing to offer except for the collection of old railway engines which we had passed.

29th June 2008 - Osijek to Resita, Romania |
Sunday, 29 June 2008 12:49 |
The two luxurious nights we had in Mostar had been offset by last night at the Osijek campsite. We had enough water for quick washes and after breakfast of French loaf and marmalade given by our French friends we set off for Romania via Udvar, Hungary skirting the Borders of Serbia. Getting into Hungary was not a problem and we continued eastwards to Baja, Szeged and border town of Cenad. We arrived at the border confident that we would have no problem as Romania is an EU member and I had checked the visa status on the internet.

28th June 2008 - Sarajevo to Osijek, Croatia |
Saturday, 28 June 2008 11:49 |

When we woke up at 8 am everyone seemed to be about ready to leave the campsite and in a hurry too. The colourful French van next to us is apparently the back up vehicle for 3 cyclists (a German and 2 Frenchmen) attempting to ride from Normandie to China in 70 days. They had been on the road for 12 days and had done 1900 kms. After a good chat, hearing some useful information about Ethiopia and promises to get both our websites linked, the cyclists left while we were still packing. Oh one more thing, their van driver is 72 and cook 78, so one is never too old!

Although I didn’t get to sleep till 4.00 am I had to get up pretty early to move Tuah to allow a guest to get his car out. No point going back to sleep after that and during breakfast we met up with the easy going and friendly Australian group who had arrived after us the previous night. To my surprise they spoke Croatian fairly fluently and I was informed that their parents/grand parents had migrated to Australia in the early 60s.

15th June 2008 - Venice, Italy |
Sunday, 15 June 2008 11:47 |
I was keen to get going but Adrian as usual woke up late and by the time everyone was ready, we managed only to catch the 11.00 am boat into Venice. While waiting I saw this large blue hull passing by and only then realized how close ships were passing us at the campsite. The lights we saw and thought were for aircraft landing last night, are channel markers.

8th June 2008 - Andorra to Montpellier, France |
Sunday, 08 June 2008 11:44 |

I felt a lot better than last night after almost 10 hours sleep. We had a cooked breakfast and were ready to leave by 11.30 am. Surprisingly, after driving around, Andorra La Vella is a fairly large town and all the shops were opened although it was a Sunday. Andorra is all about skiing and duty free shopping. I took advantage of it to refuel but wished that our tank was empty. I can’t help thinking on leaving why anyone would want to live in the valley surrounded by rocks and gale force winds slicing through your skin though.
