After a sumptuous breakfast we said our goodbyes to Maria who had given us a bottle of wine, and gang and we all left left Pansion Rose at about the same time. Adrian too had to bid farewell to Asema who was going back to Sarajevo with her mother.

Somehow or other we took the wrong turning and ended up on a road leading to a place not found on our map. The river was on our right and I knew that as long as there was a crossing on to the opposite bank we would be alright and carried on. We subsequently got to the bridge and joined the road to Sarajevo, without having to turn back.

Just before Jablanica we saw the goats on the spit at a restaurant of the same name. Of course Alison had to choose the seat directly looking at the next table where the man was digging into a goat’s head he had just ordered and got a running commentary from her. Fortunately he was done with the head when our food arrived. The restaurant had been established over 35 years and the mutton was so nice that we ordered a portion to take away.

We headed for campsite Oaza and came across a sign indicating camp Oaza at Konjic, miles away from Sarajevo not realizing that there are two campsites with the same name. We rang up Oaza, Sarajevo to get confirmation. The rest of the journey to Sarajevo was without any difficulty and the scenery got better as we headed north. We checked in at Campsite Oaza in Sarajevo with some disappointment, expecting better facilities and more campers on site. There were only four other campers.

Main approach to Sarajevo from Mostar Overlooking Sarajevo from the hills

After a short rest it was time to take a look at what Sarajevo had to offer. Before that we did call the Malaysian Embassy to register our presence in case of any need for contact. After driving around the Old Town we managed to find our way to the hills on the North part of Sarajevo and spotted the massive gravesite on the side of the hills. The weather was threatening as we headed back for the campsite and I only managed to raise the tent before the downpour. We ate fresh bread and take away mutton in Tuah while waiting for the rain to ease off which it did after a couple of hours or so.
