5th June 2009; Norfolk VA

Today it rained heavily and apparently according to Alison it had been raining most of the night. Thankfully I am a sound sleeper and didn’t even realize there was a thunder storm going on in the early hours of the morning.

After breakfast there was a flurry of messages from John with updates on Tuah’s status. According to the brokers, the inspection was going to be done in the afternoon and he had alerted AREEF to be prepared to receive Tuah. I asked why it was necessary for Tuah to be sent to AREEF while I could go to the Customs examination place and collect him from there avoiding further delays and unnecessary expanses.

John came back telling me that I was not allowed to be in the Customs examination area but to save time AREEF transport will fetch Tuah from there instead of Safmarine terminal, which originally was the arrangement. But he warned me not to raise too much hope on getting Tuah out by today and that it looks more likely on Monday before I can get him out.

In the meantime I had extended the stay at the hotel for another 4 days in anticipation. We had to move room yet again and this time to a twin bedded room which seemed much cleaner with fairly new carpets. Alison didn’t mind so much as the twin beds looks like queen size.

As the evening drew near Alison was complaining about tightness of the chest and difficulty in breathing. I thought she was not serious and was exaggerating it as usual. But at dinner time (another Chinese takeaway) she didn’t eat very much and went to bed immediately after, leaving me to care for Adrian. Adrian, sensed that his mother wasn’t well and was not a problem and after letting him watch the box he was ready to go to sleep at 9pm. The thought did strike me on how to tell him that Alison was gone……and well before me at that!!!
