10th June 2009; Norfolk VA

Today I woke up early with excitement and had a peek at Tuah from the windows. He seemed OK and undisturbed. Alison was also awake but t?en asked me a funny question, if it was raining? I just saw that it was bright outside and immediately responded with a no! Then I saw water splashing beneath the door ad realized something was amiss.

The stupid buggers had placed a sprinkler head just outside the door and it was turned on. No wonder the door had been wet everyday when we go for breakfast and yesterday we were trying to figure out why?

Alison started unpacking Tuah as soon as she showered, before breakfast (she is in a hurry to get out of this place). I had to do something then, instead of sitting around reading my emails. We agreed to extend our stay at this God forsaken hole, for one last night as there was no way we could finish packing by 11am. As Alison continued with her unpacking and repacking, I took the easy task of putting the newly acquired sticker on to the spare wheel cover.

About noon we headed for Downtown to pick up the carnet and all the other documents allowing us to import and use Tuah in the USA from the sub-agent of Greenworld the Customs Brokers. Apparently it was their first experience in importing a private car. Now I begin to understand the how jobs are unnecessarily created as there was no need for Greenworld to be employed as John Trestrail could have gone direct to the sub-agent. Anyway the damage had been done and I'll just have to wait for the invoice.

While at the sub-agents office someone from another office had spotted Tuah and bumped into Alison. As it turned out, her sister April who is the designer of undergarments at their firm Foxers was in Malaysia for a few years until 2006 when she came back and started designing and manufacturing (in Malacca) the undergarments. We were honoured to be given a pair of briefs each to sample. We promised to keep on touch, no doubt Alison will, and parted company.

We then went to the AAA to get the insurance in place. We took the third party liability cover at USD425 for six months. As it turned out when we made inquiries at the main office the AA UK has some sort of affiliation wit AAA and we manged to get maps and guide books for free. Not only that as I was told we could call for assistance from the AAA based on our membership of AA UK. Great news for us and to think that I actually asked AA if I could cancel my membership before coming to Norfolk!

While at the AAA we met the Coopers (from Canada) and McMahons (from California) who were on holiday together. They had a good look at Tuah and of course Adrian was dead chuff showing the two couples his space. By the time we were done it was rush hour and we thought it better for us to be heading back to the hotel to continue with the packing.

For dinner we finished off yesterdays Chinese takeaway but then I wasn't really hungry. I was more worried about my legs as it had started swelling up after hust one day of driving. I may have to increase the dosage of lasix tomorrow!!!
