15th June 2009; Philadelphia

When I woke up it was 9.30am. My feet were holding well after increasing the dosage of lasix by half a tablet as long a I have them elevated in the night. I could see it was a going to be a lazy day as we decided yesterday not to go to New York and if we needed to it has to be a drive through day trip. By 11.30am I was still fiddling around with the laptop and only then went for a shower.

By 12..30 we were out looking for radio shack (store selling radio and electrical equipment) which we found quite easily but did not have the camera we were looking for in stock. The store keeper suggested we looked at Wallmart which we intended to do on the way back from Downtown as we had to get some groceries for Alison to cook for tonight's dinner with David and Joanne.

The GPS was programmed for China Town as we know how to get to the Liberty Bell from there, but then why not input the Liberty Bell site? When we got to China Town Alison found that it could be done and the progress from there was a lot easier. We were fortunate to find a parking bay immediately as we arrived by the independence hall.

I only knew today that the Liberty Bell was placed there as it couldn't be used any more because of a large crack that appeared after an attempted repair on a chip that had come off it. But what the bell represented to the anti-slavery movements led mainly by the Quakers is unimaginable and thereafter it became a moral boosting piece for both the World Wars.

After that I wanted to take a photo of Tuah with Rocky but when we got to the Museum I found it to be impractical as the statue was placed too far from the road. So I had to make do with Tuah having the Malaysian flag flying on top of him with the Art Museum in the background. As it was getting a bit late we went back to Ridley Park to get the groceries and as soon as we got back Alison was in the kitchen preparing the food for tonight.

It only took her just over an hour to have everything ready and then Joanne and David came over to taste the nasi lemak. I dare say that it tasted good as I was the only one who went for seconds. David is not the typical American who have large portions and Joanne does not look like a big eater. They stayed till about 11pm and we then called it a day ourselves.
