It was raining cats and dogs this morning and I had to repack Tuah. Apparently according to the majority, it was my junk that was causing the overloading and therefore my responsibility to get everything stowed right. I managed to get the far side of the car under the parking shed to avoid getting wet. I announced our readiness to depart but the seats were still piled up with stuff. Alison must have seen that I was getting wet and no complaints from her when we left Hotel Athena.

At 11.58 we were refueled and on the way towards Vigo. !0 kms out of Benavente on route 525 the terrain began to change and we got to see more varied scenery. We spotted these houses built into the earth near Calzade de Tera and thought that they were built for warmth but will have to get that confirmed. They looked to be set in a private property and there was noone around to ask.

Insterianos, about an hour out of Benevente looked like a nice place, with quite a few new large houses overlooking the surrounding mountains. As we were not in a hurry we did a non-scheduled stop at Peubla de Sanabria and were glad that we did. It turned out to be an attraction old town with a castle right at the top of the hill overlooking the newer part of town way below.

We had a couple of dishes of tapaz in a cozy restaurant, the only one, at an incredible cost of €6.90. And everyone is happy. People were curious about us and Tuah and one family finally spoke to us and Adrian was of course in his element with a another new friend.

By 4.30 pm we were in Portugal heading towards Villa Real. The A24 was not on the Sat nav and it was going crazy making repeated instructions to make U turns etc. We go into Villa Real and headed towards the town centre hoping to find a room for the night but Alison’s sharp eyes spotted the Municipal campsite not far from the town centre. We had dinner at the campsite restaurant, free wine, free glasses of port, free music and a good time was had by all. What hospitality!!! (A clip has been downloaded on Alison’s facebook)
