12th May 2008 - Villa Real, Portugal

We were ready pretty early for a change and were at Café Forum (our internet service provider) by 10.00am. After depositing the washing at the laundry which happened to be nearby we headed for Porto. The drive to Porto was beautiful although we were covered in clouds at the higher altitude. Porto on the other hand was nothing exceptional, other than the football team of course!

Tuah at Porto Square, the guy on the right didn't think it proper to stop at the bus stop

From the square we headed for the waterfront looking for lunch.

Alison suddenly shouted with excitement pointing to this Defender with Kangaroo Expedition painted all over. As it turned out the guy (can’t remember his name) driving it is promoting some competition sponsored by an internet company who will send the winning team of 25 children and 2 teachers to Australia. Good luck to the kids!!! We got a café, recommended which was round the corner.

There were too many yobs hanging around looking half pist but none bothered us. We found the café but choice was limited, either a burger or ham!!

Our 6 Euro lunch or refuel, judging from the oil, at Porto

We got our oil served with our burgers but it was edible so no complaints there except we didn’t know if we were overcharged! Adrian however was upset when his new found friend had to go for her nap and he was abandoned without even a goodbye.

A friendly drunk at the next table decided to take our photo with the owner….not with my camera he was not.

We were quite happy to leave Porto and headed back to Villa Real but managed to get Tuah captured with the Porto lighthouse and pilot station in the background.
