This morning I was awake really early, and had my shower before anyone woke up. I gathered it was about time I started writing my journal as I was two days behind. That I did although I haven't had the opportunity to take any photos because of the weather.
To avoid extra expenses, I went and got our cereal and milk from Tuah for our breakfast. We again left early at 0915hrs after refuelling. We skirted the border of France/Switzerland and passed Geneva to our left. At Passy the dual carraigeway ended and then a syeep climb before we go to the Mt Blanc Tunnel, an 11.6km tunnel. We entered the tunnel on the French side and exited it on the Italian side at a cost of 44Euros, while if we had not had the roof tent it could have been 11Euros cheaper. We started arguing with the cashier but to no avail as she pretended she didn't understand us. By 1235 hours we were ready for lunch and since the weather was reasonable we stopped at a layby and had our sandwiches. We were on the road again within one hour. When we got to Genoa, it was beginning to get dark and we went in search for a hotel with parking facilities as we didn't want to leave Tuah unattended. Of course we couldn't find one but Alison spotted a camping sign and we followed it through narrow roads up to the top of one of the hills. The temperature was 13C and without wind it was not so cold. We decided to camp and upon checking in raised the roof tent just in time before it started to piss down with rain. We ended up sitting in the car for a couple of hours while Adrian and I had a snooze. Fortunately for us Alison had made some extra sandwiches and we had that for dinner. |
