The rain had stopped by the time I woke up at 0700hrs. We decided to pack up and get the tent down before it rained again and had breakfast at the reception area. The receptionist didn't mind us eating our own food as they didn't have any to offer us except for coffee which we bought in anycase.
Once again we had an early start and preceeded to leave Genoa due to incelement weather. We couldn't possibly walk around Genoa in the pouring rain with little Adrain in tow. We would be asking for trouble if we did. Not too far out of Genoa, Alison spotted the coastal route which we could take and we left the Motorway at Rapello and it was a pleasant surprise to see towns along the coast with parking spaces available, but perhaps not in summer. We passed towns like Portofino, Sestri Levante and continued towards La Spezia and passed Braccho pass which was fortunately opened. We stopped for kunch at a little town not knowing how long it would take us to get to the next one. Marguerita pizza and vegetarian pasta was the order of the day and Adrian had an ice cream for a treat. Before reaching La Spezia we returned to the Motorway as it was taking too much time for us to make any progress towards Pisa. As soon as we got onto the Motorway I felt the urge to do a big job and got to a rest area just in time. We got to Pisa and found the tower but then I had to go again. We decided to go to McD which we saw on the way in. I was again just in time. But poor Adrian after drinking two cups of milk and jumping up and down, threw up most of the milk. We were not quite sure if it was anything else the matter with him but needed to wait if it happened again. By the time we found the B+B it was 1900hrs and at 65Euros it was much better than paying 85Euros asked for at a 2* hotel near the tower. By 2100hrs Adrian was asleep and so was Alison. I didn't feel tired perhaps because I had a good rest the previous 2 nights. |
