We had a sumptuous breakfast, of course only continental very unlike the Engish B+B. Daniella, our host was entertained by Adrian throughout breakfast. She advised us to go to Siena if we could as according to her it is worth visiting.
Today, we started off later than usual at 1005hrs. We stopped by a farmasi to see if we could top up on my Sevamstatin which I obtained without any problems nor questions. So Amy is off the hook otherwise she would have to get them and forward to an embassy somewhere! Then we were off to the famous Tower of Pisa. We managed to park pretty close by with some Senegalese keeping an eye on Tuah while on the pretext of sellig some goodies. Unfortunately, children under the age of 8 years are not allowed to go up the Tower, and I couldn't possibly go up more than 3 flights of stairs without having to stop. So Alison was grounded by a majority of 2 to 1. We took loads of pictures like everyone else there, mostly trying to show how the leaning tower could be held up. By 1200hrs we were done and started making our way towards Florence. We stopped at a rest area for lunch and had my INR reading done and reported to the anticoagulation unit. 4 mg is to be maintained accordintg to Guy. We had some anxcious moments when Alison told me that there were two suspicious characters around and one had a good look in my wallet when I was paying for the lunch. Fortunately nothing came of it. When we got into Florence, we headed for the city centre and found only one brown sign indicating the point of interest. We got to the fort but it was holding some sort of exhibition for children and the sign at the gates read "no tourist". |
