19th Novenber 2008 - Siena to Pompeii

Breakfast at the Park Hotel is something we looked forward to. Alison had the cheek of taking a few boiled eggs for lunch but was embarrassed to carry them openly and Adrian's toy bag became handy. Adrian however insisted that he carry the bag and I was praying that he didn't break the eggs on the way up to the room.

This time we wanted to make our way down to Pompeii as fast as possible and took the motorway all the way. We stopped for lunch just past Rome although I didn't feel like eating as was still full from yesterday's lunch.

It was fortunate that we had the Sat Nav as there was no sign indicating Pompeii at all along the route. There was only the brown sign indicating "archaeological sites". We found Pompei and the Spartacus camping without any problems. As we didn't like the prospect of spending the night in the cold Alison asked for a bungalow and we got a heated static caravan to stay in for 25 Euros a night.

We had an early dinner of left over chicken curry and rice cooked in the toilet of the caravan, which was consumed with delight. By 1930hrs we were turned in as there was nothing to do and I didn't intend to write whenever Alison was writing as otherwise Adrian would be left unattended.
