24th November 2008 - Kritharia, Volos

It was a lazy day for us while Doug took us out for a Greek tapas lunch at one of the Tsipero restaurants. Tsipero is a Greek grape skin liquor which one mixes with water in the ratio of 3:1 and it is rather mild after the mix tasting something like anna seed. It was a great lunch and all the dishes were rather cheesy.

Alison took the opportunity to do some shopping at the supermarket, getting some olive oil, turkey sausages and such like items in readiness for our departure.

When we got back Alison religiously made sure that the website was updated, especially on Adrian's adventures. I felt guilty as although I have written daily for my journal since we left on our 2nd leg, I have yet to publish any of it. Procrastinating as usual!!!

Later on in the evening it was time for Alison to do her duties, cooking for us. She made nasi lemak with chicken rendang which tasted great after a couple of weeks of non-Malaysian cooking. Doug enjoyed it too.

I took the opportunity to check on the internet if there was any way we could get to Izmir by ferry and couldn't find any service from the Greek mainland. There are services from Kos to Bodrum but they looked to be more for foot passengers. Doug had a few maps out and I reckon we have a lot of time in our hands when I compared Syria and Jordon against the size of Greece and Turkey. We could transverse Syria and Jordon together in a week leisurely and in four days at a push. The only worries I have is to find out for sure if the ferry service from Aqaba to Egypt is still running. If it is then we are home free.
