Sept 5; Wein, Austria

Alison got up complaining about the lack of sleep she had been getting with me snoring so loudly and last night some people coming in late and pitched their tent next to ours making lots of noises. I thought our day was going

to be ruined by her mood and didn’t bother to respond. Instead I concentrated on getting Adrian ready to go out. Regardless I was served with a big breakfast of boiled eggs and French loaf.

I got the tickets for the transport into Vienna and the receptionist didn’t know if Adrian needed a ticket and told me to ask at the station when I got there, which I didn’t bother. Once Alison had studied the routing and got my confirmation it was easy enough to travel around Vienna using the public transport and there is certainly a lot of choices between the trams, Metro and the overland railway services.

We went straight to the Volkstheatre where all the buildings worth seeing are concentrated; The National Museum, Rasthaus, Parliament and the Town Hall. They were all in the vicinity of the Volksgarten which was still blooming with flowers. When we got to the Town Hall, there was a film festival going on and lots of stalls offering local delicacies but the only thing we ate was ice cream as Alison had packed sandwiches for us.

It was then on to the festival that we had been told was going on till Sunday. When we got there lots of stalls were just being put up and Adrian had to wait for the bouncy castle  I had a good look at the stage where the musicians were practicing and I thought it was quite awesome the sound that was coming through.

I tried to test my blood for the INR reading but failed to squeeze enough out to get a proper reading. Unfortunately the testing strip was the last one I had with me. So we had no choice but to get back to the campsite early enough so that I can catch the anticoagulation unit in London before they close shop for the weekend.
