Sept 10; Innsbruck to Bodensee, Austria/Germany

Goodbyes were said to our German neighbour who gave us morning and evening coffees, and also to Rainer and Simmone. We had to leave early as the nearside wing mirror had to be replaced as arranged yesterday. When we got to the Nissan dealer

the mechanic was already waiting and the job was done within 20 minutes at a cost of €84.50. Fortunately I had enough cash in hand as the dealer did not take credit cards.

Now that Tuah was as good as new we made our way towards Germany. The drive took us through some wonderful towns once outside Innsbruck, towns like Obsteig and Nassereith. They are obviously frequented all year round with skiing in winter and walks in summer. At Lermoos there was a long tunnel we had o go through without charge, this time.

Once across the border in Germany we headed for Fussen where the castles of Konigsschlosser are situated. As there is no means of taking the car up to the castle and we had to park at the base of the hill, we decided that we had enough of castles and moved on after taking some photos of the castle of course.

Our next intended stop was Friedrichahafen but before we got there we saw a sign for a campsite near Gohren by the lake of Bodensee. The reception was really classy and we checked in and what a disappointment it turned out to be. There were too many permanent caravans parked close to each other and we were dumped miles away from the washrooms. Of  course Alison was furious but I told her that we can shift the Tuah nearer to the washrooms once the shop nearby to it was closed.

That’s what we did and nobody the wiser and we had a good nights sleep.
